Step 4. Post-retrofit EnerGuide home evaluation

Closed: Canada Greener Homes Grant. December 31, 2025, was the last day to submit your documents. Requests submitted by the deadline will continue to be processed.

Canada Greener Homes Grant applicants had to complete the entire retrofit journey to be eligible for funding.

Scheduling a post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation

After the retrofits were completed, homeowners had to contact their service organization or energy advisor to schedule a post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation.

The post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation shows how much energy has been saved and how much greenhouse gas emissions are reduced because of the retrofits.

We recommended using the same service organization you used for your pre-retrofit evaluation for your post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation, if possible. If your original service provider was not available, you could switch to a different service provider. The service organizations must be registered with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).

If you used a different service organization, this may have caused delays in getting your post-retrofit evaluation scheduled or completed. It is your responsibility to ensure that all required steps were completed for your grant journey by the deadline.

If you switched to a different service organization, you were required to update your application in the Greener Homes portal with the new service organization’s information.

Finding a service organization or energy advisor

Service organizations that are registered with NRCan, are companies that deliver EnerGuide evaluations and work with registered energy advisors. Registered service organizations or energy advisors in your area can be found at: find service organizations for existing homes.

Costs of your home evaluations

The homeowner was responsible to pay up front for the post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation.

Your post-retrofit evaluation may have a different cost than your pre-retrofit evaluation. Up to $600 is the maximum contribution for the combined costs of the two evaluations.

Reminders

  • You were required to pay up front for the evaluations
  • The maximum grant amount for the two evaluations might not cover the full cost
  • You would not receive the pre- or post-retrofit evaluation contribution unless you completed the full Canada Greener Homes Grant process, including installing at least one eligible retrofit
