Registering for XRF Analyzer Operator Certification: Examination and Re-Examination
Examinations for x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer operator certification can be taken at one of two location types depending on your needs and preferences:
- Examination centres available through the online examination system
- Special XRF Examination Centres
See below for more information about registering for examinations at these different centres.
Registering for initial XRF examinations via the online examination system
Access to an examination centre will be denied to XRF candidates if you fail to bring a copy of your scheduling confirmation email for multiple-choice electronic/online exams.
Once you have submitted an application for x-ray fluorescence (XRF) certification, and have been issued an electronic written examination authorization letter from the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Non-Destructive Testing Certification Body (NDTCB), you can register for and book your electronic examination(s) through the online exam system portal and select the closest available examination centre.
Registering for initial XRF examinations at Special XRF Examination Centres
Special XRF Examination Centres (SXECs) have an inventory XRF analyzer operator examination papers. In addition to invigilating these examinations, SXECs can:
- Conduct written XRF examinations in various in-field locations
- Issue SXEC admittance and registration forms for the first attempt at XRF examinations for initial certification
To register with an SXEC for an XRF examination, please contact one of our listed SXECs.
Registering for XRF re-examinations
To register for re-examination, you must submit a fully completed Page 1 of the XRF application form with the applicable written registration fee(s). After it is approved, you will receive an electronic written examination authorization letter and you can arrange for examination at an examination centre via the online examination system.
For re-examination, you are not required to resubmit certain documentation (i.e., training, education, eye examination report, etc.) unless you didn’t submit it before the initial examination attempt or it needs updating.
You can send your request for re-examination to NDTCB by mail, fax or e-mail.
