A harmonized methodology is being developed, in collaboration with CanmetENERGY Varennes, the National Research Council, and Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) Fuels Sector, to quantify life cycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (or carbon intensities) of different hydrogen production pathways with the end purpose of facilitating development of hydrogen certification criteria in a Canadian context.
Our areas of focus
Our work entails process modelling and simulation, life cycle analysis (LCA), and techno-economic analysis (TEA) of hydrogen production, including:
- process simulation of hydrogen production pathways, focusing on methane pyrolysis
- supporting our collaborators on process simulation of other production pathways and on integrating simulation results into LCA models
