Natural Resources Canada is pleased to share recent progress on the ongoing improvements to the Canada Flood Map Inventory (CFM), supporting stronger access to flood hazard information across the country.
Over the past few months, information in the inventory was verified and updated, including public links to flood maps, details on data owners, and provincial and territorial flood mapping resources. In total, information in 110 existing studies was updated as part of this work.
The latest release of the CZIC inventory also incorporates 44 newly added studies, conducted by local authorities, including:
- 28 studies partially funded through the Flood Hazard Identification and Mapping Program (FHIMP).
- 16 studies from other contributors or programs, including the National Disaster Mitigation Program.
This update reflects the ongoing collaboration between various partners to improve the understanding and management of flood hazards.
