An applicant to the Stream 1 of the Green Freight Program (GFP) can conduct a self-assessment or can hire a third-party energy assessment company of their choosing to complete the Fleet Energy Assessment. In both cases, the assessment must meet the minimum requirements in the Natural Resources Canada Fleet Energy Assessment Criteria and Guidelines.

Self-assessment
An Applicant can independently conduct and submit a self-assessment at no additional cost as long as the assessment meets the Basic Fleet Assessment criteria outlined in the Natural Resources Canada Fleet Energy Assessment Criteria and Guidelines.
Ineligible assessment
- Any assessment that does not meet the Natural Resources Canada Fleet Energy Assessment Criteria and Guidelines.
