Obtain a qualified third-party validation report
Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit (ITC) rates are based on the carbon intensity (CI) of clean hydrogen production. As such, taxpayers must calculate an expected CI using the most recent version of the Fuel Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Model and in accordance with the Carbon Intensity Modelling Guidance Document — Clean Hydrogen ITC. To qualify for the Clean Hydrogen ITC, each clean hydrogen project plan must be accompanied by a validation report prepared by a qualified validation firm that supports the expected CI contained in the plan.
Please refer to the Validation and Verification Guidance Document — Clean Hydrogen Investment ITC for details on requirements for qualified validation firms, validation activities and validation reports. An Attestation of Independence (PDF, 274 KB) must be included in the validation report.
