Fees for NDT Certification and Examination
Secure Electronic Payment System
The NRCan NDTCB is encouraging all of its program users to use the electronic payment system when applying for initial certification, renewal and recertification. During application processing, you will receive a specific email from the NRCan NDTCB providing you with the appropriate payment link to our secure online payment system via email.
To provide flexibility, pre-authorized payment included with an application will still be processed.
To protect your payment information, we ask that all forms containing credit card information (MasterCard, Visa, American Express) be submitted via fax or mail only. Do not send credit card information by e-mail. If you have any questions, please call 1-866-858-0473.
NRCan NDTCB Service fees update
Effective April 1, 2023, the NRCan NDTCB has implemented service fees update. Application and fee submissions to the NRCan NDTCB that are postmarked, emailed or faxed after March 31, 2023 are subject to the new fee schedule below.
Recommended examination centre fees update
The recommended examination centre fees has also been updated, effective April 1, 2023. Please contact your applicable examination centre for full details about their specific practical exam fees, which may differ from the recommended fees listed below. Examination centre fees are paid directly to the examination centre by the candidate for practical exams, or indirectly via the Online Examination System for electronic written multiple-choice examinations. These fees are not paid to the NRCan NDTCB.
To apply for your initial non-destructive testing (NDT) certification according to the CAN/CGSB-48.9712-2022 standard, you will need to download, complete and submit a variety of forms. Your application package should include the requisite fees for the certification you need.

For all fee types, the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) National Non-Destructive Testing Certification Body (NDTCB) encourages the use of the secure online payment system. However, payment by company or certified cheque, money order or credit card (Visa, MasterCard or AmEx) is still acceptable. If paying by credit card and sending your application by mail, print the name shown on the credit card, card number, expiry date, and authorized payment amount, and include the cardholder signature. We do not accept Government of Canada Acquisition Cards for payments. Payment from other government departments should be made by inter-departmental FIS transactions.
Email submissions: Please note that we do not accept credit card information by email. If you are submitting your application by email and paying by credit card do not include the credit card number or expiry date. After you have submitted your application by email, the NRCan NDTCB will provide you with an email notice with the appropriate payment link to our secure online payment system.
Fees and other process requirements are subject to change. All fees are subject to the current fee schedule in effect. Fees paid to the NRCan NDTCB are non-refundable and non-transferable and apply only to the application/examinations for a given method and level.
Initial application and examination registration fees
The initial application fee is payable to the Receiver General for Canada along with your application form for assessment of examination eligibility. Please note we cannot assess your application unless this fee accompanies the application.
Examination registration fees are payable to the Receiver General for Canada and must be paid in order to receive authorization to attempt the written and practical examinations for a given method and level.

Written re-examination registration fees
Your written re-examination registration fee is payable to the Receiver General for Canada and must be remitted with your application for re-examination. The NRCan NDTCB must receive this fee before it can issue the written examination admittance and registration form, which allows you to participate in the re-examination(s).
The examination centre fee is payable directly to the authorized examination centre for paper-based written exams or indirectly via the Online Examination System for electronic written multiple-choice examinations.

Practical re-examination registration fees
When repeating the entire practical examination, the re-examination fees are the same as initial practical examination registration fees.
Your practical re-examination registration fee is payable to the Receiver General for Canada and must be remitted with the application for re-examination. The NRCan NDTCB must receive this fee before it can issue the practical examination admittance and registration form that allows you write the examination.
The examination centre fee is payable directly to the authorized examination centre.
