Project Objectives
The objective of this Project is to complete a Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) study for a Regina regional CCUS Hub with transportation to Weyburn and Belle Plaine for saline aquifer sequestration.
Expected Results
This Project aims to achieve the following goals:
- Provide infrastructure to support CO2 capture from multiple facilities (i.e., compression, transportation, & sequestration).
- Enable CO2 capture of up to 4.2 Mt CO2 / year.
- Verify the injectability of the Belle Plaine and Weyburn sequestration sites.
- Build with excess capacity to reduce the cost of future blue hydrogen production, utilizing the same CO2 sequestration infrastructure.
This project is planned to accommodate future emitters in the Southeast Saskatchewan region, including investments in hydrogen production from natural gas. The FEED study will include the trunkline, sequestration sites, and compression and dehydration from several keystone emitters.
