Project Objectives
The objective of this project is to accelerate the time of methane thermal cracking for hydrogen production via the shock wave heating technology in preparation for successive field pilots.
Expected Results
This project aims to:
- Build capacity for wave reformer manufacturing.
- Increase tax revenue by promoting decarbonized natural gas.
- Expand exports of natural gas and wave reforming.
- Facilitate job transfer and re-training in the oil/energy sector.
- Foster diversity and growth in carbon product sectors.
- Stimulate demand for hydrogen vehicles, turbines, etc., through near-term hydrogen supply.
- Save over 15,000 liters of water per tonne of hydrogen produced compared to traditional methods.
- Achieve a net GHG reduction of 6 to 12 tonnes per tonne of hydrogen compared to traditional methods.
- Require low electricity demand, reducing dependence on new regional infrastructure.
- Ensure no use of solvents or hazardous wastes.
