Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to advance knowledge by conducting a series of comprehensive measurements at oil and gas facilities throughout Western Canada, combining aircraft-based measurements with ground-based insights and detailed analytics. These measurement campaigns will help identify site-level and aggregate mitigation opportunities, produce source-resolved measurement-based inventories, and directly support regulatory and policy decisions.

Expected Results

The project is expected to:

  1. Produce comprehensive, source-resolved, measurement-based inventories of oil and gas sector methane emissions. Provide evidence-based, site-level analysis of evolving source distributions and consequent mitigation opportunities. Support regulatory efforts and policy decisions in the oil and gas sector
  2. Refine the methodology for deriving measurement-based emission inventories.
