Project Objectives

The objective of this Project is to reduce emissions from heavy duty vehicles by developing a hydrogen and diesel dual fuel retrofit system applicable to 90% of heavy-duty engines.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

1. Support development and training of Alberta engineers in the field of energy transition and GHG reductions.
2. Potentially develop and produce an exportable product.
3. Reduce GHG and black carbon emissions from the heavy-duty trucking industry.
4. Increase demand for hydrogen fuel, increasing opportunities for Alberta energy providers to produce and sell hydrogen.
5. Retrofit HD trucks to use hydrogen dual-fuel technology
6. Decrease capital cost and retrofit lead time for heavy-duty truck fleets over buying new trucks.
