Project Objectives
This Project will conduct a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) study to de-risk a proposed bioenergy carbon capture and storage (BECCS) project for negative emissions at the Hinton Pulp Mill Site in Hinton, AB.
Expected Results
The project aims to:
- Contribute to the final investment decision for a project-to-be-constructed that has the potential to capture 1,260,000 tCO2/year of biogenic emissions helping to meet the climate targets of 40-45% below 2005 emissions levels by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050.
- Provide information on the feasibility of BECCS projects.
- Stakeholders can leverage the knowledge gained from the Project to further de-risk and develop BECCS hubs in Canada.
