Project Objectives
This front-end engineering detailed (FEED) study will focus on the geothermal design elements of a low-carbon Community Energy System (CES) to supply up to 340 residential homes.
The project will study the application of an ambient district energy system to supply homes with geothermal heating and cooling. On-site renewable electricity generation is proposed to be incorporated into the community via the local electric utility.
Solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery storage are also considered to bring the site to a net-zero energy performance level.
Expected Results
The project expects to accelerate the development of net-zero energy systems, drive down the cost of green infrastructure and reduce energy consumption by 61% on a per-home basis through individual home performance combined with the Community Energy System.
It also expects to provide a transferrable model for integrating geothermal infrastructure into community development.
