Project Objectives
The objective of this project is to develop an innovative hydrogen energy system for new homes in the community of Bremner. A first-of-its-kind gaseous energy delivery system will utilize hydrogen as a zero-carbon replacement for natural gas for space heating, water heating, cooking, and other appliances.
Expected Results
This project aims to:
- Offer a low-carbon alternative to full electrification for homes.
- Generate enhanced energy efficiency by implementing hydrogen heating systems, which are anticipated to yield reduced levels of greenhouse gas emissions.
- Decrease the release of greenhouse gases and/or prevent an increase in greenhouse gas emissions.
- Comply with the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act.
- Mitigate the economic impact of the Carbon Tax on consumers.
- Create a demand for hydrogen and enable growth in Alberta’s nascent low-carbon hydrogen industry.
