Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to drill a 500-m deep well near the multi-purpose community facility, which includes the Kuujjuaq Forum, Inuk Strength Gym and Municipal swimming pools, to advance local geothermal resource knowledge and demonstrate a small-scall geothermal heat pump pilot system in a subarctic climate.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Develop geothermal technologies for space heating to reduce fuel oil use and generate energy savings.
  2. Enhance heating security while fostering community training and school engagement through research activities.
