Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to scale up the Proponent’s advanced coating platform to apply conductive carbon coatings on battery current collectors.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

1. Expand Canada’s electric vehicle battery materials supply and manufacturing capacity.
2. Avoid hazardous solvents used in current technologies.
3. Reduce reliance on foreign battery-grade carbon-coated foils.
4. Train highly qualified personnel in battery materials and lithium-ion battery manufacturing.
5. Address a North American battery supply chain bottleneck by producing high-value coated collector foils.
6. Enhance battery performance, while reducing cost of battery cells and environmental impact.
