Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to reduce the cost of lithium metal as an anode for lithium metal batteries and improve their energy density.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

1. Develop lower-cost battery material production methods for high-energy-density applications, enabling more affordable electrified transportation technologies.
2. Enable ultrathin lithium foil production to support value-added manufacturing for lithium producers and strengthen Canada’s downstream battery supply chain.
3. Pilot the production of battery grade lithium metal with the goal of, ultimately establishing a large-scale facility in Canada, creating job new opportunities for Canadians.
4. Foster strategic partnerships across Canada’s battery ecosystem to accelerate innovation and enhance national competitiveness.
