Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to develop a high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack prototype that meets the requirements for medium and heavy-duty vehicles and the manufacturing methodologies for its production.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

1. Create domestic jobs, reduce emissions, and lower costs through local manufacturing.
2. Improve the lifetime and winter driving range of medium and heavy-duty electric vehicles (MHDV), improving their viability in Canada.
3. Fill a gap in Canada’s battery value chain between upstream (mining, materials, cell fabrication) and downstream (recycling) stakeholders.
4. Address the lack of high-voltage battery module manufacturers in Canada. .
