Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to optimize hydrogen co-combustion performance and emissions reduction in retrofitted heavy-duty trucks, validated through field trials with commercial fleets.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Train highly qualified professionals in industry and academia, in research and development, manufacturing, and maintenance of retrofitted hydrogen-fuelled vehicles.
  2. Develop technology to reduce greenhouse gases, pollutant emissions, and operational costs in heavy-duty trucks.
  3. Develop Canadian IP for hydrogen control systems and machine learning algorithms.
  4. Facilitate broader adoption of hydrogen technology in commercial trucking fleets.
  5. Ensure compatibility with all internal combustion OEM systems; implementation is reversible and can maximize system lifetime.
  6. Share non-confidential research through peer reviewed journals and conferences to promote benefits and adaptability.
