Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to use ultramafic tailings from nickel mining to provide a permanent and geologically stable CO2 storage solution through proprietary in-process tailings (IPT) carbonation technology.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Derisk and demonstrate the sequestration potential of Canada Nickel’s IPT carbonation technology at a pilot plant level. Which upon success of the project, would support millions of tons of future CO2 sequestration annually, provided the intended mine is built and operational.
  2. Demonstrate, identify, and report the stability and permanence of carbon sequestration in tailings using Canada Nickel’s IPT technology.
