Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to conduct comprehensive measurement campaigns and Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) efforts across key Canadian jurisdictions and produce timely, source resolved data and measurement-based inventories of Canada’s upstream oil and gas sector.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Help Canada meet its climate goals by driving measurable, year-over-year reductions in oil and gas methane emissions by 75% by 2030 and reach a level of 0.2% in quantified methane intensities.
  2. Support compliance with global energy standards and deliver emission cuts through collaboration with government and industry.
  3. Enable year-over-year tracking of mitigation progress, delivering environmental, societal, and economic benefits.
  4. Provide stakeholders with transparent, actionable data and tools to adopt effective mitigation solutions, achieve sustained emission reductions, monitor performance, and remain competitive by meeting international standards.
