Project Objectives
The objective of this project is to develop ultra high-power capacity cylindrical format lithium-ion (Li-ion) cells for defense and power tool applications through advancements in cell design and materials.
Expected Results
This project aims to:
- Strengthen Canada’s supply chain by increasing domestic battery manufacturing and reducing reliance on foreign suppliers, which is especially important for the defence sector.
- Drive job creation by requiring highly qualified personnel and generating downstream employment for Canadians.
- Localize the midstream of the battery supply chain in Canada, targeting commercial readiness and 2 GWh of battery cell production by project end.
- Produce Canadian-held patents.
