Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to provide a regional analysis of opportunities, economics, and risks for CCS in Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

1. Inform governments and support regulatory changes to advance CO2 storage in Eastern Canada, promoting collaboration across industry, public, and government sectors.
2. Position Eastern Canada competitively by providing public regional CO2 storage mapping, including offshore storage sites that could serve other jurisdictions.
3. Share data with CanmetENERGY for the NCAF project —covering resource mapping, type, estimated storage potential, risks, injectivity, and more.
4. Supply cost estimation data and heuristics for integration into the NCAF tool.
