Project Objectives
The objective of this project is to upgrade control systems and integrate the Sayisi Dene First Nation-owned solar PV and battery energy storage system into the Tadoule Lake diesel generating station, enabling grid-following capability and Manitoba’s first grid-forming renewable energy microgrid operations.
Expected Results
This project aims to:
- Replace diesel fuel with local sustainable energy resources for power generation in a northern and remote community.
- Generate economic, social, and environmental benefits leading to more resilient Canadian communities.
- Increase community revenue from energy production and sales and create local jobs (construction and long-term) while reducing noise, greenhouse gas emissions, and diesel spill risks.
