Project Objectives
The objective of the project is to develop a first of its kind electricity system in Manitoba that will integrate renewable energy sources to enable grid-forming and grid-following operations in Sayisi Dene First Nation, a remote, northern community using diesel for primary energy.
Expected Results
This project aims to:
- Replace diesel with local sustainable energy in a northern and remote community, fostering economic, social, and environmental benefits leading to more resilient Canadian communities.
- Enhance energy literacy, local revenue, and employment while reducing noise, greenhouse gas emissions, and diesel spill risks.
