Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to help innovators develop and test new approaches that improve Indigenous participation in the energy transition—focusing on decarbonization, decentralization, democratization, and digitalization. By addressing key barriers, it seeks to create inclusive opportunities that empower Indigenous communities to actively contribute to and benefit from the evolving energy landscape.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Ensure a more inclusive energy transition by increasing Indigenous participation in Canada’s energy sector, enhancing equity and diversity in the shift to a low-carbon economy.
  2. Drive innovation and sustainable economic growth by encouraging the development of new energy solutions and technologies.
  3. Strengthen partnerships with Indigenous communities, contributing to ongoing reconciliation efforts.
  4. Provide data and analysis to improve energy transition programs, including standardized evaluation frameworks, best practices, and engagement strategies for more effective, scalable projects.
  5. Expand opportunities for underrepresented communities to engage in the clean energy economy, access funding and partnerships, and influence relevant policy decisions.
  6. Address regulatory challenges to streamline implementation, cut costs, improve efficiency, and maximize long-term benefits.
