Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to demonstrate and validate a scalable Spray Freeze Heating (SFH) system as a low-emission alternative to traditional fossil-fuel-based mine heating.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Support national decarbonization goals, cleaner mining operations, and contribute to Canada’s climate commitments and reductions in remote-site emissions.
  2. Strengthen economic development in northern and remote regions by improving the viability and competitiveness of resource development, supporting Canadian jobs, supply chains, and long-term community stability.
  3. Improve operational efficiency and reliability for mining operators through a more stable, efficient, and safer heating solution for Arctic conditions that lowers operating costs and enhances winter performance.
  4. Reduce environmental and social risks at mine sites and support stronger environmental, social, and governance policy performance, improving regulatory alignment, and strengthening relationships with local and Indigenous stakeholders.
