Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to decarbonize Lalor Mine by replacing diesel equipment with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and installing charging infrastructure, cutting emissions by 2,915 tCO2e annually by 2027 and improving safety and air quality.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Reduce emissions, improve underground air quality, and lower energy use, supporting Canada’s net-zero goals.
  2. Advance clean technology commercialization, strengthen mining competitiveness, and create training opportunities.
  3. Lower carbon intensity of Canadian minerals, benefiting global supply chains, and supporting industry-wide decarbonization through knowledge sharing.
  4. Improve worker safety, reduce noise and heat, and provide training on new technologies.
  5. Support Indigenous communities through engagement and employment opportunities.
  6. Demonstrate a proven BEV model, enhance ESG performance, and reduce operational risks.
