Project Objectives
The objective of this project is to successfully characterize the CO2 storage potential in the Cambrian saline reservoir in Southwestern Ontario to improve planning for future CO2 hubs in the region.
Expected Results
This project aims to:
- De-risk Carbon, Capture, and Storage (CCS) in the region by reducing geological uncertainty to enable industry investment in capture, transportation, and storage hub planning.
- Further Canada’s 2050 Net-Zero emissions initiatives.
- Establish an open access CO2 storage hub for numerous industries.
- Enable detailed pipeline routes planning and storage hub engineering to expand CCS storage capacity in Canada.
- Publish project data and results to support Ontario's regulatory framework development.
- Address subsurface data gaps to de-risk and advance CCS hub development in Ontario.
- Support industrial emitters in advancing regional decarbonization efforts.
- Provide CCS expertise across the entire value chain to achieve economies of scale and shared infrastructure, reducing costs.
