Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to build capacity and expertise to support the development of a regulatory framework for demand side management (DSM) in Alberta.

Project Objectives

This project aims to:

  1. Enhance energy affordability, improve regulatory education, and promote equity in the province’s electricity market.
  2. Enable low-income and marginalized communities to benefit by enabling Demand Response (DR) and Virtual Power Plants (VPPs).
  3. Lower electricity costs by shifting demand and improving efficiency.
  4. Share best practices for DSM adoption with regulators, utilities, and policymakers, leveraging insights from other jurisdictions.
  5. Support informed decision-making and regulatory innovation through stakeholder engagement, research dissemination, and industry participation.
  6. Publicly share key findings through reports, conferences, and direct engagement with policymakers.
