Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to optimize the Proponent’s lithium iron phosphate (LFP) product and increase its production to a commercially representative scale that will enable securing revenues and expedite commercialization.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Deliver the first North American scale-up of LFP manufacturing, enabling domestic production of a key lithium-ion battery component for stationary energy storage applications and affordable EVs.
  2. Support and expand local employment while prioritizing local sourcing of materials and services.
  3. Scale a simplified, low-waste cathode active material production method that reduces costs and environmental impact.
  4. Strengthen the midstream of Canada’s battery value chain by adding value to raw materials and supplying cell manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers with a key production input.
