Approach and objectives

Approach

At the Digital Accelerator, we take a hands-on-approach to accelerate the development of innovative artificial intelligence solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity at Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). We partner with sector’s domain experts to co-create tangible products. These products contribute to program success while sharing knowledge and innovative techniques that will have a lasting impact on the delivery of their work.

It is our mission to introduce or improve artificial intelligence-related capabilities at NRCan and to broadly inform Canada’s natural resource sectors on how to best incorporate digital solutions in their operations.

Objectives

  1. Build AI/ML-centric solutions to support:
    • the achievement of NRCan’s mandate through delivery of targeted, advanced analytic solutions
    • the creation of Proofs of Concepts (PoCs) on innovative Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning-based solutions to promote the development of NRCan programs in an innovative and digital way to enhance efficiency and productivity
  2. Enable a digital-aware culture in NRCan through hands-on learning and workshops
  3. Prioritize partnerships with NRCan sectors, digital technology leaders and government technology partners
  4. Keep expertise of the Digital Accelerator team sharp and provide and maintain high-performance computing resources

The Government of Canada’s digital vision

The Government of Canada is focused on building an open and service-oriented organization that delivers digitally optimized programs and services to people and businesses in effective ways that are available anytime and on any device.

Canada’s Directive on Service and Digital supports the government’s shift to becoming more agile, open and user-focused. Many government departments and agencies are increasingly using data and artificial intelligence to make better decisions and to better serve Canadians. Their expertise and the paths they have forged provide a strong foundation for progress of the government as a whole.
