Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to modify the Global Change Analysis Model (GCAM)-Canada model to include carbon removal, Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), and enhance the building sector.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Address a major gap by creating an open-source Canadian iteration of the widely used GCAM model, enhancing the real-world relevance of its input and output data. The model and results will be publicly available on an online platform.
  2. Strengthen Canada’s energy modelling ecosystem by developing a Canada-specific iteration of a global model, which may generate significant spin-offs.
