If you are already participating in the EnerGuide Rating System, ENERGY STAR for New Homes or R-2000 residential energy efficiency initiatives, sign in to the members’ only resource centre, which provides administrative and technical documents, training materials, and marketing resources.

HOT2000 software suite

HOT2000 is an energy simulation modelling software developed and maintained by Natural Resources Canada to support the EnerGuide Rating System, ENERGY STAR for New Homes, and R-2000 residential energy efficiency initiatives.

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) provides three versions of the HOT2000 software:

  • HOT2000 General Version
  • HOT2000 Training Version
  • HOT200 Registered Energy Advisor Version

NOTE: User support for HOT2000 is available only to program participants. General users can get support from these professionals.

HOT2000 - General Version

The general version of HOT2000 is to be used by the general public and building professionals who do not hold an active licence agreement to use the EnerGuide Rating System, ENERGY STAR for New Homes or R-2000 residential energy-efficiency initiatives.

Important: the complete download of HOT2000 can require an additional two (2) minutes after the “installation progress bar” indicates that the software has downloaded.

Select the version that meets your needs:

HOT2000 Training Version

The training version of HOT2000 includes the EnerGuide Rating System report generator (unprintable reports marked with “SAMPLE”) and is available to professionals who:

  • previously qualified as an energy advisor or quality assurance specialist, or
  • achieve a passing grade on the EnerGuide Rating System Foundation Level Exam, or
  • are actively enrolled in a college, university or other training institution that requires the trainee to have access to the HOT2000 training package [note: request for access must come from the instructor of the course]

If you are interested in obtaining the HOT2000 training version, contact Natural Resources Canada to obtain a password and receive appropriate software access privileges.

HOT2000 Energy Advisor Version

The energy advisor version of HOT2000 includes the EnerGuide Rating System report generator and is available to professionals who are qualified and registered with Natural Resources Canada under EnerGuide Rating System requirements.

If you are already a registered energy advisor you can download the HOT2000 energy advisor version with the user name and password provided to you by NRCan.
