About the Contests

ENTRY IN ANY OF THE CONTESTS CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE OF THESE RULES.

The 12 Days of ENERGY STAR is a series of contests (collectively referred to as “the Contests”, or individual days referred to as “the Contest”) that is administered by ENERGY STAR Canada (“the Administrator”) and is sponsored by ENERGY STAR Canada Participants (“Sponsoring Participants”).

Each contest day is deemed as a standalone contest (“the Contest”) with no impact on the draw, winner selection and prize of any other day. The first Contest will open on December 2, 2024 at 11 a.m. EST, and the final Contest will open on December 13, 2024 at 11 a.m EST. For the full 12 Days of ENERGY STAR schedule, please see the “Contest Periods" section below.

Contestants can enter each Contest through a web application, promoted on the following ENERGY STAR Canada social media platforms:

Facebook:

Instagram:

These Contests are in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or in association with Meta. Any questions or comments regarding any of the Contests should be directed to the Administrator, not Meta.

How to Enter

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. To enter any of the Contests, visit this website (“the Website”) during the Contest Periods (listed below).

Entrants must complete the official entry form available on the Website during the Contest Periods, providing their full name, email address, and confirm their age and province/territory of residence. This personal information is collected for contacting purposes and eligibility verification only and will not be shared with any other entity. For more information about the collection of this data, please see the privacy notice below.

Limit of one entry per person per Contest (per day). If an entrant attempts or is suspected of attempting to enter more than once per day or use robotic, automatic, programmed or any entry methods not authorized by these rules, it shall be deemed as tampering and will void the entries.

Eligibility

To be eligible to win a prize, at the time of entry into the Contest a person must be:

  • An individual legal resident of Canada,
  • Currently residing in Canada, and
  • Aged 18 or over.

The Administrator has the right at any time to require proof of identity and/or eligibility to participate. Failure to provide such proof may result in disqualification. The Administrator reserves the right to disqualify any entrant should such an entrant at any stage supply untruthful, incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading personal details and/or information.

If the identity of a contestant is disputed, the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry will be deemed to be the contestant. The individual assigned to the email address for the domain associated with the submitted email address is considered the authorized account holder. A selected contestant may be required to provide proof that they are the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the selected entry. All entries must be submitted from a valid email account that may be identified by reverse domain name search. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of receipt of a valid entry in these Contests will be the server of the Contests.

Employees of ENERGY STAR Canada for Products, as well as such employees’ immediate family (father/mother, brother/sister, son/daughter) or persons living under the same roof are not eligible to enter any of the Contests.

Draw, Winner Selection and Notification

Winners will be selected by random draw under the supervision of the Administrator from among all eligible entries received during the Contest Periods. The first selected contestant will be drawn at the times indicated in the Contest Periods section above (12 p.m. EST the day following Contest opening).

The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries. All entries that are incomplete, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, using any robotic, automatic programmed method that artificially increases the odds of winning or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of the rules may be disqualified by the Administrator. The Administrator is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising these Contests.

The first selected contestant to correctly answer the mandatory mathematical skill-testing question shall be declared the winner, subject to meeting all the conditions described in the rules.

Eligible winners will be notified by email within 48 hours following selection of the draw and should claim their prize as instructed by the Administrator by no later than seven (7) days after the date they are initially contacted. If a selected contestant cannot be contacted within seven (7) days following the first attempt of contact, incorrectly answers the mathematical skill-testing question, is ineligible, declines the prize, or fails to return the required Declaration and Release Form, the prize shall be forfeited and the Administrator has the right, at its sole discretion, to select another winner.

The Administrator shall have no liability for a winner’s failure to receive notices or for a winner’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information. The Administrator will verify the winner’s eligibility and request a Declaration and Release Form to be completed, including shipping address and phone number to ship the prize to the selected winner.

ANY VIOLATION OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES BY A WINNER (AT THE ADMINISTRATOR‘S SOLE DISCRETION) WILL RESULT IN A WINNER’S DISQUALIFICATION AS A WINNER OF THE CONTEST, AND ALL PRIVILEGES AS A WINNER WILL BE IMMEDIATELY TERMINATED.

Acceptance of the Prize

All prizes must be accepted as described and may not be transferred to another person, substituted for another prize, or exchanged in whole or in part for cash. No substitutions will be allowed. Refusal to accept the prize releases the Administrator from any obligation towards the winner.

Each winner acknowledges and agrees that they are responsible for all costs, expenses, fees, other disbursements and applicable federal and provincial taxes, as applicable, related to the acceptance and receipt of the prize.

To accept a prize, each winner must complete and sign a Declaration and Release Form declaring their eligibility, provide contact information, and correctly answer the skill-testing question.

If a prize cannot be awarded as described in these rules, the Administrator reserves the right to substitute a prize or prize component with another of comparable value, as determined in its sole discretion.

General

The aforementioned eligibility and entry criteria and the below terms and conditions are hereinafter referred to as “Rules of the Contests.”

The Administrator reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend any of the Contests should non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or other cause beyond the Administrator’s control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Contests. In such case, the Administrator may select the winner from all eligible entries received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken by the Administrator. The Administrator reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the campaign or website or violates these terms and conditions.

The Administrator assumes no liability for any loss, damage or injury, including without limitation: (i) lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late, destroyed, illegible or incomplete entries; (ii) loss, theft or damage to software or computer or telephone data, including any breach of privacy; (iii) fraudulent calls; (iv) inability of any person to participate in the Contests for any reason including mistaken addresses on mail or email; technical, computer or telephone malfunctions or other problems with computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, or software; congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination of the foregoing; (v) damage to any person’s computer, including as a result of entering or downloading any material relating to the Contests; (vi) any delay or inability to act resulting from an event or situation beyond their control, including a strike, lockout or other labour dispute at their location or the locations of the organizations and businesses whose services are used to administer the Contests; or (vii) prizes that are lost, damaged or misdirected during shipping.

The Administrator reserves the right to amend the rules of these Contests or to terminate the Contests at any time without any liability to any contestant. Any amendments to the rules of these Contests will be posted on the Website.

By entering, you agree to abide by the rules of these Contests and the decisions of the Administrator, which decisions are final and binding on all contestants.
