Energy Efficiency Regulations
Regulatory definition
Television, an analog or digital product, with or without an internal tuner, that is designed primarily for the display and reception of a terrestrial, satellite, cable, Internet Protocol TV or other broadcast or recorded transmission of analog or digital video and audio signals and includes:
- a combination television system in which a television and one or more other devices are encased as a single unit in the television casing, and
- a component television that has two or more separate components and that is marketed and sold as a television under one model or system designation
It does not include:
- a television that is marketed exclusively for commercial use and is without an internal tuner, or
- a television that is marketed primarily for use as a computer monitor

Television products must also be capable of entering off mode or standby mode.

- Display – a clock or other device that provides visual alphanumeric or graphical information or indicates the status of the equipment
- W – watts
Energy efficiency report requirements
- name of product
- brand name
- model number
- manufacturer
- name of the certification body or province whose verification mark will be on the product or its package
- whether a mathematical model as defined in the Regulations was used to generate any of the information provided below
- standby mode power consumption, in watts, and if applicable with information display active; with information display inactive; and without status information display
- period of time, in minutes, between enabling the standby mode and completing the standby power consumption measurement
- power consumption, in watts, in off mode
