Energy Efficiency Regulations

Regulatory definition

Combination vending machine, a refrigerated beverage vending machine containing two or more compartments separated by a solid partition — whether or not they share a product delivery chute — in which at least one compartment is designed to be refrigerated and has temperature controls; and at least one compartment is not designed to be refrigerated and does not contain temperature controls

Refrigerated beverage vending machine, a self-contained-product that is designed to accept consumer payments and dispense refrigerated beverages in bottles, cans or other sealed containers

The class of a refrigerated beverage vending machine is one of the following:

  • Class A, if it is not a combination vending machine and 25% or more of the surface area on the front side of the refrigerated beverage vending machine is transparent
  • Class B, if it is not a combination vending machine and less than 25% of the surface area on the front side of the refrigerated beverage vending machine is transparent
  • Combination A, if it is a combination vending machine and 25% or more of the surface area on its front side is transparent
  • Combination B, if it is a combination vending machine and less than 25% of the surface area on its front side is transparent

Refrigerated beverage vending machines manufactured on or after January 8, 2019

Energy efficiency report requirements

  • name of product
  • brand name
  • model number
  • manufacturer
  • name of the certification body or province whose verification mark will be on the product or its package
  • whether a mathematical model as defined in the Regulations was used to generate any of the information provided below
  • Edaily
  • if the product is Class A, Class B, Combination A, or Combination B
  • if Edaily was calculated based on the presence of a refrigeration low power mode
  • if applicable, the lowest application product temperature in degrees Celsius (°C)
  • volume in litres
  • percentage of the surface area on the front side that is transparent
