Energy Efficiency Regulations

Regulatory definition

Dehumidifier, a household appliance that is primarily designed to remove moisture from the air and is:

  • self-contained and encased;
  • electrically operated;
  • mechanically refrigerated.

Portable dehumidifier, a dehumidifier that is not a whole-home dehumidifier.

Whole-home dehumidifier, a dehumidifier that is designed to be installed in an air duct.

Energy efficiency report requirements

  • name of product
  • brand name
  • model number
  • manufacturer
  • the name of the certification body or province whose verification mark will be on the product or its package
  • whether a mathematical model as defined in the Regulations was used to generate any of the information provided below
  • portable dehumidifier: water-removal capacity in L/d
  • whole-home dehumidifier: case volume factor in L/kWh
  • integrated energy factor in L/kWh
  • standby power in watts
