Regulatory definition
Dehumidifier, a household appliance that is primarily designed to remove moisture from the air and is:
- self-contained and encased;
- electrically operated;
- mechanically refrigerated.
Portable dehumidifier, a dehumidifier that is not a whole-home dehumidifier.
Whole-home dehumidifier, a dehumidifier that is designed to be installed in an air duct.

- name of product
- brand name
- model number
- manufacturer
- the name of the certification body or province whose verification mark will be on the product or its package
- whether a mathematical model as defined in the Regulations was used to generate any of the information provided below
- portable dehumidifier: water-removal capacity in L/d
- whole-home dehumidifier: case volume factor in L/kWh
- integrated energy factor in L/kWh
- standby power in watts
