Certified Map Printers
Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), publisher of Canada's national topographic map series, has a certification program to accredit map printers for local, on-demand printing of these essential, authoritative documents. Now, all official NRCan topographic maps are available from Certified Map Printers, who ensure accessibility to high-quality paper copies of these maps.
Certified Map Printers are thoroughly evaluated by NRCan to verify that they conform to high technical standards for product quality, and to ensure the reliable reproduction of topographic maps from official data sources. Maps published by Certified Map Printers according to the standards established by NRCan carry a special holographic seal of quality. Maps bearing this seal are authentic copies of NRCan topographic maps, easily recognized by map users.

High-quality printed copies of paper maps are available from local Certified Map Printers for on-demand printing.

Provisional Prints – CanMatrix - Print Ready
Certain CanMatrix maps produced by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) contain a "Provisional Print" watermark in the lower left corner of the map. These maps have been printed by local Regional Distribution Centres and Certified Map Printers from digital files provided by NRCan. The maps bearing this watermark are authentic copies of NRCan topographic maps, and generally have been subject to preliminary quality control processes by NRCan. Minor adjustments to shades/colours may be required to improve the print quality if necessary.
The addition of the Provisional Print watermark provides Regional Distribution Centres and Certified Map Printers with the ability to quickly evaluate the printing quality in order to respond to requests from map dealers and end users. If the print quality is deemed insufficient, the CanMatrix - Print Ready digital file will be adjusted by NRCan upon request for the PDF and TIFF formats. Currently, only maps that sell in low volumes carry the Provisional Print watermark.
If you have further questions or concerns regarding Provisional Prints, please contact GeoInfo.
