Regional Energy and Resource Tables – Newfoundland and Labrador
The Newfoundland and Labrador Regional Energy and Resource Table launched on June 1, 2022. Through this Regional Table, the Government of Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador – with the ongoing collaboration of Indigenous partners – have identified actions and areas of opportunity that will help build a prosperous clean economy in the province and contribute to Canada’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Four opportunity areas have been identified that would significantly enhance Newfoundland and Labrador’s comparative advantage in clean energy and the natural resources sector:
- Critical minerals
- Wind and hydrogen
- Electrification
- Carbon capture, utilization and storage
The Newfoundland and Labrador Regional Energy and Resource Table – Framework for Collaboration on the Path to Net-Zero was released on March 20, 2024.
Partners will continue to work across opportunity areas and will provide an update on progress within one year.
