SmartDriver Training: Work Truck
Specifically designed to perform a vast array of important day-to-day jobs, more than 50 million vocational vehicles are used in commercial applications on the roads in Canada and the United States.
SmartDriver for Work Truck (SDWT), developed in cooperation with NTEA – The Association for the Work Truck Industry and vocational transportation experts from across North America, is a free course focused on energy-management factors, including start/stop techniques, vehicle “spec'ing” and best driving practices.
The subject matter also covers alternative fuels and technologies that may further assist fleet managers’ efforts to reduce fuel consumption, lower carbon emissions, decrease costs and increase competitiveness.
A certificate of achievement is awarded to those who complete the training with a mark of at least 80%.
Course outline
SDWT is delivered in 4 modules:
- Module 1: Introduction and why fuel efficiency matters
- Module 2: Buying and spec’ing the right truck
- Module 3: Fuel-efficient driving practices and jobsite operation
- Module 4: Telematics
