In Canada, 285 million tonnes of raw and finished forest products are transported each year over 4.5 billion kilometres.
SmartDriver for Forestry Trucks (SDFT), developed in cooperation with FPInnovations, promotes proven energy-efficient driving in forestry operations.
This free training focuses on energy-management factors that are within drivers’ and owner-operators’ control. These include start/stop techniques, vehicle spec'ing, and haul operations on and off-road.
The course also introduces technologies that can help drivers transporting forest products lower fuel consumption and increase productivity.
A certificate of achievement is awarded to those who complete the training with a mark of at least 80%.
