Fundamental Science

One of CanmetENERGY research centre in Devon’s key strengths is its depth of understanding of the basic fundamental science and its influence on technology development. The multi-disciplinary project teams ensure that this in-depth knowledge is applied to solve complex oil sands and heavy oil production and environmental problems on a commercial scale.

Studies of the fundamentals of interfacial science, physical science and thermodynamics, as well as tools such as process and molecular modeling and computational fluid dynamics, enable us to identify and focus on the most critical factors that influence the process under investigation or the phenomena being studied.

Fundamental studies are supported by state-of-the-art advance analytical equipment and software programs.
