2024 Public Opinion Research – Highlights around the ENERGY STAR program
This report informs Canadians on public opinion research activities around the ENERGY STAR Canada Program contracted by the government between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025.
- According to POR 2024, awareness of both the ENERGY STAR and EnerGuide labels—whether aided or unaided—has remained stable since 2022. Awareness of the ENERGY STAR Most Efficient designation – both aided and unaided – has notably increased since 2022, continuing the upward trajectory seen since 2020.
- The POR 2024 results show that Canadians familiar with the ENERGY STAR brand hold increasingly positive attitudes toward it, though their willingness to pay extra for certified products has remained steady.
- In comparison to 2022, the ENERGY STAR symbol excerpts greater influence upon purchases of home electronics, home appliances and lighting products. Awareness of ENERGY STAR certification for homes in POR 2024 is consistent with 2022 results and continues to trend upwards.
- Awareness that ENERGY STAR certification extends to buildings and industrial facilities has increased, as reported in POR 2024.
