Compliance and Enforcement: Energy-using products
Natural Resources Canada is responsible for compliance monitoring and enforcement activities to ensure that the requirements of the Energy Efficiency Act and Regulations are met. These requirements apply to dealers of regulated energy-using products who import products, or ship between provinces or territories, for the purpose of sale or lease.
Within NRCan, the Office of Energy Efficiency’s Compliance Operations group undertakes compliance promotion and monitoring activities such as dealer education and outreach, report verification, product testing, and market surveillance.
The Compliance and Enforcement Policy (2020) outlines the compliance and enforcement activities conducted in relation to energy-using products that fall under the Energy Efficiency Act.
