“The three things you should always know before buying, storing, or using commercial fireworks are…” the camera is now behind the mother, as she walks towards a fireworks store.

Interior shot of the fireworks store, which shows aisles of fireworks on display. A sign animates onscreen saying ‘KNOW THE LAWS’.
“Everyone can enjoy consumer fireworks displays, but fireworks must only be used by adults” we see the mother walk onscreen over to a display.

Next is a close up of her hand picking up one of the fireworks boxes, which read “F.1 CONSUMER FIREWORKS. WARNING, 18 YEARS AND OLDER. INSTRUCTIONS’

Close up of her eyes and she reads the warning on the box. “You must be 18 years old to buy, store and use consumer fireworks”
SCENE 7
Medium shot of her with the fireworks box walking towards the camera, as she gets ready to purchase it. “The federal government has created laws governing fireworks that apply throughout the country”
SCENE 8
Close up of a clerk behind the cash register, with a sign behind him that says ’18 years or older to buy fireworks’ He gestures towards some pamphlets as the camera zooms in on them. The pamphlets read ‘Firework safety instructions’.
SCENE 9
Down shot of the clerk playing the purchased fireworks into a brown paper bag, and then his hands move away off screen.
SCENE 10
We see the clerk behind the counter again, with the fireworks in the paper bag, and the clerk is placing one of the instruction pamphlets into the bag.
SCENE 11
A wide shot of the kids standing beside the side of their house, and a blue sky in the background. The mother is now driving a white car, and drives onscreen from the left. “Be responsible when transporting fireworks to ensure they are not damaged.”
SCENE 12
Rear shot of her car, as the trunk pops open to show several bags of fireworks. “At home make sure they are stored in a secure manner.”
SCENE 13
We see the children standing beside the house again, cheering as the mother walks by with the fireworks in her hand. She walks into the garage, offscreen.
SCENE 14
The mother walks onscreen from the left, into the garage and towards a locked chest. There are various tools hung up on the walls, and there are paint cans and a jerry can on the ground. “At home, make sure they are stored in a secure manner, inaccessible to curious children,
SCENE 15
Close up of the locked chest, the lid opens up and the fireworks float inside. The lid closes and the lock goes back on, sealing them and keeping them safe.
SCENE 16
We cut to a scene with green grass, a fence going from left to right, and a blue sky with clouds, and a title animates on which says ‘KNOW YOUR SPACE’. “Only use fireworks outside” We see the mother walk onscreen from the left, rolling the locked chest on wheels behind her, and proceeds to walk to the right and eventually offscreen.
SCENE 17
Next scene takes place in the same area, just zoomed out further. The mother has the chest on the right side of the screen, and her son is on the left side of the screen. “Choose a clear, open area away from building and vehicles” A line appears over the grassy area, and eventually animates into a right triangle. On the left side near the base of the triangle, the words ‘2 TO 1 RATIO’ appear over the line of the triangle going upwards. At the bottom of the triangle, text appears saying “Spectators should be at least 60m away from the launch site for fireworks that can reach a height of 30m.”
‘Refer to the safety instructions on the fireworks label for minimum standoff distances for you and your spectators’
SCENE 18
The scene starts with a close-up, down shot of the mother looking up at the sky. The camera slowly trucks out, and then we cut to the camera pan up and we see a tree branch enter the frame.
SCENE 19
A new title animates onscreen, which says ‘READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS’
The mother is seen back on the lawn with the trunk open, and she’s reaching inside.
“Know how your fireworks will act and work in your space and read all instructions before you start the show.”
She takes out the instructions.
SCENE 20
Cut to a shot of her bringing the instructions into center screen.
SCENE 21
Next shot is an extreme close up of her face as she reads the instructions.
SCENE 22
We see her hand bringing a second set of instructions center screen.
SCENE 23
Cut to a down shot of the grass, and three square wooden planks are laid out beside each other a foot apart.
SCENE 24
The mother places a bucket on the center of the three planks.
SCENE 25
We cut back to the down shot of the three planks, a fuse is placed on the bucket, and two separate fireworks are placed on the other wooden planks.
“Ensure to set up your fireworks securely on firm ground.”
SCENE 26
Next we see a close up of a red faucet attached to the home, with a garden house attached to it going offscreen. The faucet starts to spin.
“Always have a charged hose or a bucket of water close by.”
SCENE 27
Close up of the garden hose filling the bucket with water.
SCENE 28
Cut back to the wide shot of the backyard, and the mother is walking onscreen from left to right, carrying the bucket and hose.
SCENE 29
Close up of her hand holding a lighter with a visible flame, a sparkler moves from the right to touch the flame and ignites.
“Always supervise children around sparklers.”
SCENE 30
We see the two children standing in the wide shot of the backyard, and a close up of the mother’s hand moves onscreen holding the lit sparkler. As her hand reaches the middle of the screen, the two children raise their hands in excitement.
SCENE 31
Close up of the mother’s hand giving the sparkler to one of her children.
SCENE 32
Cut back to the two children, now with sparklers running happily towards the camera, one runs offscreen. The other accidentally drops her sparkler.
SCENE 33
Close up of the sparkler landing on the ground, and the mother’s hand reaches down to grab it
“Many people consider sparklers to be child safe, but they burn at very high temperatures and can easily ignite clothing or cause injury.”
SCENE 34
Cut back to a close shot of the daughter standing left of middle, as the mother once again brings a lit sparkler onscreen.
SCENE 35
Now we see a medium shot of the mother standing with her back to the camera facing a fence, and a flagpole bearing the Canadian flag to the right, and a tree behind it. The flag waves as the wind carries a few leaves from right to left, the mother raises her left arm to determine wind direction.
“Before starting your show, ensure the wind is blowing away from any spectators.”
SCENE 36
We now see the mother standing left of center on the screen, checking to see how dry the nearby bushes are.
“Make sure any nearby brush and grass are not dry or easily ignited by stray sparks.”
SCENE 37
We now see her back on the law with the fence behind her, watering the ground with a garden hose.
SCENE 38
The mother is now center screen, facing the camera and wearing protective goggles. She’s also wearing protective gloves, and holding a long stick in her left hand, that she will use to ignite the fireworks.
SCENE 39
“Remember, know the laws of your area. Read the instructions on the fireworks packaging and set up your space to maximize safety.”
She now leans forward towards the bucket and lights the fuse of the fireworks.
SCENE 40
Cut to a wide shot of the backyard, and we see her walk from right to left, where her family and friends are waiting to watch the show. In the sky, there’s small bursts of colour as the fireworks have begun exploding in the sky.
SCENE 41
We see her standing with her husband and two children center screen, and other people can be seen on the right and lefthand sides of the screen. The camera slowly pans out.
SCENE 42
Cut back to the opening shot, we see a down shot of the community from the air, and fireworks are bursting close to the camera, as the camera continues to pan out.
SCENE 43
“Oh, and after the show is over, dispose of fireworks packaging in a safe manner.”
We now see a medium shot of her tending to the fireworks containers now that they have finished. She is once again wearing protectives goggles and gloves.
SCENE 44
The fireworks are thrown into the bucket of water she filled earlier.
SCENE 45
“Ensure there are no smoldering remnants that could cause a fire.”
We see her walk from right to left, where a trash can is located.
SCENE 46
Up shot from the trash can, where the lid opens and we can see the mother looking down into the can. She tosses the used fireworks into the trash, and closes the lid.
A title animates onscreen ‘Enjoy the show!’
