The Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) relies on the collaboration of partners through committees and working groups to develop data and technology standards, core geospatial data, and to provide operational policy guidance.

Canadian Council on Geomatics

The major federal-provincial-territorial consultative body for geomatics, including GeoBase national foundational data layers.

Geographical Names Board of Canada

The national coordinating body responsible for recording and promoting official geographical names in Canada.

Federal, provincial, and territorial government departments that contribute geospatial data and web services to the CGDI’s growing geoportal.

Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) (English only)

A consortium of experts making geospatial information easier to find, access, share, and use through shared standards.

International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Geospatial Standards (English only)

ISO’s Technical Committee 211 with members from around the world are working to develop and publish international standards for geomatics, geographic data, and geographic information.

World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)

A community group dedicated to lowering barriers to accessible and simple geospatial information on the Web, through voluntary open standards.

Arctic Spatial Data Infrastructure (English only)

A partner-based effort of eight National Mapping Agencies to develop a spatial data infrastructure, a coherent reference map, and interoperable thematic data for decision-making for the Arctic region.

United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (English only)

The international body for global policymaking in the field of geospatial information management dedicated to addressing global challenges and development agendas using geospatial information.

United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names (English only)

The international body that provides guidance for the standardization and coordination of geographical names, including promotion of Indigenous and minority names as means of cultural heritage.
