Project Objectives
The primary objective of the Project is to implement a hybrid, smart-grid solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery system to offer a new and predictable source of clean energy generation for the remote village of Gwa'yasdams.
The Project will include system design, engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of a PV, battery energy storage system integrated with the diesel power plant.
Expected Results
The outcome of the project is to supply half of the Village’s electrical needs and 72-hours of energy storage.
This will also result in a more resilient and self-sufficient remote community, job creation, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and associated air contaminants, opportunities for economic development and increased energy literacy.
Anticipated Environmental Benefits: Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions associated with a reduction of 50,000 litres of diesel per year.
