Project Objectives
The objective of this project is to scale up Ekona’s methane pyrolysis technology, completing a FEED study for deployment of a 20 tonnes H2 /day commercial plant, in Alberta, to reach commercial stage. It will also focus on engineering for larger production capacity and optimization of the capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenditure (OPEX) requirements.
Expected Results
The project is expected to:
- Offer environmental benefits such as greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions, clean hydrogen production and no water consumption.
- Production of valuable carbon products.
- Support an environmentally sustainable future for Canada’s energy sector while contributing to the development of a strong resilient workforce.
- Support Canada’s commitment to lower GHG emissions under the Paris Agreement.
