Project Objectives
The objective of this project is to produce and use low carbon fuel (LCF) from plastics and construction and demolition (C&D) waste at the Lafarge Brookfield Nova Scotia cement facility.
Expected Results
This project aims to:
- Reduce Canada's CO2 emissions by replacing fossil fuels with low-carbon fuel alternatives.
- Reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills by diverting certain waste streams to become feedstock.
- Contribute to the success of various waste programs across Nova Scotia targeting waste diversion and circularity.
- Extend knowledge on pre-processing and preparation of LCF across other cement facilities.
- Contribute to immediate employment in new supply chain jobs in the waste management industry and directly at the Brookfield facility.
